Grieving During the Holidays: Holiday Grief Support Group

Feeling the weight of grief this holiday season? You’re not alone.

When you’ve experienced a loss, the holidays don’t always feel festive. For many, this season brings reminders of what’s missing—whether it’s the presence of a loved one, the relationship you hoped for, or the version of the holidays you once knew.As a licensed therapist in California specializing in grief, anxiety, and life transitions, I’ve supported many adults who dread the holidays because their grief gets amplified. That’s why I created a dedicated Holiday Grief Support Group in California, running November through December, designed specifically for this time of year.

Why Grief Can Feel More Intense During the Holidays

The holiday season often amplifies grief; decorations, family gatherings, memories, and the picture perfect holiday images we see everywhere can all trigger painful emotions. Whether you’re grieving:

  • the death of a parent, partner, child, friend, or pet

  • the end of a relationship or the supportive family you never had

  • your old sense of self before the loss

…you may find you’re navigating something deeply challenging. Grief doesn’t follow a timeline—it resurfaces in waves, and holidays can stir up what we thought was behind us.

What Makes This Group Different?

If you live in California and are navigating loss this holiday season, my Holiday Grief Support Group is a safe, compassionate space tailored for the moment. Here’s how it works:

  • Weekly sessions from November 11th through December 16th (six weeks total)

  • Virtual meetings that any California resident can join

  • Designed for adults grieving any type of loss (parent, child, pet, sibling, friend, relationship, identity)

  • A combination of supportive community + practical coping strategies for holidays

  • Guided conversations with a licensed therapist who understands life transitions and grief

In the group, you’ll find:

  • A community that truly gets how the holidays magnify grief

  • Weekly discussions and tools made especially for navigating this season

  • Opportunities to honor your loss while building a meaningful way forward

This isn’t about “getting over” your grief. It’s about learning how to carry it—wisely, compassionately, and with hope.
